SDM Curriculum is designed to nurture children holistically throughout their preschool years. As such, children are confident, can interact well with others and have foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
The children are immersed in an integrated bilingual curriculum in both English and Chinese languages. For the Chinese curriculum, SDM has adopted the TCEP Pre-School Chinese series which is developed by the staff and teachers of the Confucius Institute – Nanyang Technological University.
Our centres are using the Letterland Phonics - an internationally renowned phonics programme that has helped thousands of children over the years to effectively read, write and spell independently. It incorporates the learning of letter shapes to enhance handwriting; letter sounds to help children blend and segment words. Children will learn the letter characters building, on their knowledge of the ABCs that they know, through songs, stories, sensorial materials, multimedia and worksheets.
We also have a Reading Programme by Cambridge Readers for the 4 to 6 year- olds which provides a strong support in preparing our Kindergarten 2 children in making their transition to Primary One, as it serves as a foundation for the children to acquire skills such as reading for understanding and enjoyment and numerous opportunities for word study, phonics, grammar, vocabulary and visual literacy that will lead to creative writing.
Our Enrichment programmes includes Jazz Dance, Speech and Drama, Gym and Soccer for Children.
